Many MYART shows have adult roles that are played by adult community actors, college students and parent participants. We welcome and encourage such participation and have established the following guidelines. If you are interested in performing in a production, please inquire at the information table to learn if a particular show has adult roles.
The Artistic Director may invite an individual to perform as a guest artist. These invitations are usually extended to experienced adult community actors.
Friends of MYART from the community who do not have children registered in the program may join the cast as participants paying established tuition rates. All participants must also pay any costume fees, fundraising expenses, and optional Materials Fees as well.
Parent-actors must pay registration fees to participate. Those parent-actors with one or more children enrolled in the current show will have a reduced registration fee of 50%. Parent-actor participants must also volunteer a minimum of 15 hours as well as pay any costume fees, fundraising expenses and optional materials fees. Failure to fulfill the requirements forfeits the discount and full registration fees will be due before the opening performance of the show.
Participating community and parent actors please note that preference is given to youth participants in casting shows. Adults are invited to participate in order to augment the youth cast and may play certain adult roles at the discretion of the show director.
All adult actors (other than invited guest artists) must attend their assigned group ensemble rehearsals, may audition for desired lead roles, and must also complete all assigned ensemble, audition, and lead homework. As an adult cast member, your responsibility is to be a strong role model and demonstrate a professional attitude at all times.
