Fall 2015-Mainstage Wizard of Oz Registration September 19-October 3rd
Little Dorothy Gale of Kansas, like so many girls her age, often dreams of what may lie over the rainbow. One day a tornado hits her home town and carries her away to Munchkinland - at the end of the rainbow.
The Munchkins fete Dorothy as a heroine. Dorothy wants to go home to Kansas and seeks the help of the kind Sorceress of the North. Only the great Wizard of Oz, says the Sorceress, can help Dorothy get back to Kansas.
Spring 2016-Mainstage Seussical the Musical
Seussical the Musical is based on the tongue twisting works of Dr. Seuss. The story is mostly a combination of Horton Hears a Who and Horton Hatches the Egg. However there are influences from many other Seuss works including: The Cat in the Hat, McElligot's Pool, I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew, Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?, The Butter Battle Book, Oh, the Places You'll Go!, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and others.
What is MYART?
Musical Youth Artist Repertory Theatre (MYART) is a community-based, non-profit, educational organization that provides young people the opportunity to be active participants in the performing arts. MYART supplements education in the performing arts. Though historically underfunded, we believe this to be a vitally important part of any child's curriculum. Each year MYART presents three main-stage productions with casts of 160 to 300 participants. Multiple leads and large ensemble casts allow all participants to shine.
A Message from our Artistic Director
Many of our performers have had no previous theatre training and may have thought themselves too shy to recite in class or lead a group. MYART uses creative dramatics and training in voice, dance and acting to help students discover their own power as individuals.
